Leah Cunningham
Hola!My name is Leah Cunningham and I am a Junior Public Relations major with a minor in both political science and arts administration. At WVU, I am active with the Women’s Rugby team and am currently at the end of my first term as President. I was born and raised in Morgantown, and if you cut me I bleed blue and gold. After graduating high school at Interlochen International Arts Academy, I attended the Cleveland Institute of Music to pursue a degree in Opera Performance. After a year of the conservatory life I decided I wanted to experience a well rounded liberal arts education, so I came back home to be a Mountaineer.
I am super excited to be going to Peru with the International Media class! It has been a truly enlightening experience to learn how media functions within diverse cultures around the world. I believe a good argument can be made that new media technology, such as blogging, will one day be considered an art form as it showcases unique individual perspectives in the realm of social commentary. As a “citizen-artist”, I truly believe that art elevates human consciousness and is good for society because it speaks to people’s lives and experiences. Power to the People.
